Hierfür untersucht ein Forscher 20 Probanden, welche er zufällig aus einer Liste aller PsychologiestudentInnen ausgewählt hat. Er möchte überprüfen, ob frustrierende Situationen aggressive Verhaltensweisen bedingen. Die Frustration wird induziert, indem den Probanden ein unlösbares Puzzle vorgelegt wird. Die Kontrollbedingung ist ein lösbares Puzzle. Der Forscher untersucht seine Probanden unter beiden Bedingungen (Frustration und keine Frustration). Die Probanden erhalten per Zufall entweder die Frustrations- oder die Erfolgsbedingung zuerst, d.h. 10 Probanden wird zuerst das unlösbare Puzzle vorgelegt und nach einer 30minütigen Pause das lösbare. Die anderen 10 Probanden erhalten zuerst das lösbare und danach das unlösbare Puzzle. Die aggressiven Verhaltensweisen werden während der ersten und der zweiten Bedingung durch zwei Beobachter mithilfe einer Aggressionsskala ausgewertet.
